Description
In “Wave,” a sailboat gracefully rides atop a the crest of a dynamic crescent brush stroke, capturing the essence of an exhilarating journey. The boat exudes the steadiness and control needed to navigate the curling swell. Much like the coastal country of the UAE, the artwork conveys a sense of thrill and exploration. The artist skillfully portrays the boat’s journey as a metaphor for embracing life’s adventures. We ride, calm and collected, into a fast and energetic world.
“Wave” was made with a swift singular motion of a wide brush with rich black India ink to contrast on bright white watercolor paper. The ship was carved using woodworking tools from the historical technique of relief printmaking. Once the design is carved, ink is applied to the surface of the stamp, then pressed to the paper to retrieve the image. Each work in a series has drastically differing and unique handmade qualities. This print is one of a kind, presented in a locally-crafted UAE custom mat and frame.
