Description
The Phoenician alphabet is regarded as one of the oldest writing systems ever. It originated in ancient Phoenicia, which is now Lebanon. With only 22 consonants and no vowels, it was a straightforward and effective system. The Greeks, Romans, and Hebrews all adopted and modified this alphabet. It became the basis for numerous modern alphabets, including the English Latin alphabet used today.
